However, finding size and shooting paired together is a little bit tougher but Huntington North’s Hunter Hollowell gives that to you. The 6’6 wing is one of the best shooters in the state and he is putting up some big numbers this season, helping Hunting North to a 13-4 record with the season hitting the homestretch.
Hollowell is a long, lanky wing that will obviously have to add weight in college but his size and ability to shoot over the top of defenders makes him unique. He is scoring 19.2 points per game this season while shooting 50% from the floor. His key area though is his ability to make deep shots and his range is right at the arc. He can shoot from pretty much anywhere on his half of the floor. He is shooting 42% from three, making 56 of 132 in 17 games. He is averaging more than three made three-pointers a game.
That shooting does translate into other areas of offense as he’s a pretty good free throw shooter, 87%, and pretty good when he does take two-point shots, 64%. To this point in the season, he has taken almost two times the amount of threes than two-pointers.
For his size, Hollowell does rebound the ball well but the strength factor once he hits the next level will come into play and probably drive those numbers down before the added muscle brings them back up later in his career.
Hunter does have a good IQ on the floor and in the classroom, coming in as one of the better students still left on the board. That, combined with his size and shooting has made him an interesting target for many schools.
To date, Saint Francis (IN), Purdue Northwest, IU-East, and Huntington are the schools that have extended offers but plenty other programs are tracking him this season.
