Meriwether completed his freshman year at Northside High School before transferring to Bishop Luers in the Fall of 2016. Diquan has sense moved back to Northside and is ready to help in any way possible. He played with Spiece Indy Heat 2019 Red this past summer session and was able to work on his game at a high level.
“My strengths are defense and high energy.” Diquan is a great on-ball defender and really owns that end of the court. He places a high importance on his ability to make the opposing team’s ball handler uncomfortable and disrupt their offense.
He has been working in the off-season on being a more consistent shooter and he has really improved in the mid-range distance. Diquan can create his own shot and he can create off-the-bounce to find open shots for his teammates.
“I have been focusing on ball handling and watching game film.” Diquan has been improving his ball security and watching game film will help him become a better decision maker in the future.
As he transitions to Northside High School and joins their program, Diquan is looking to do whatever it takes to help this team succeed. “My goal this is as a sophomore is to learn a lot so next year I can step in and make an impact for the team and in the SAC.”
Diquan’s game has started to improve as he puts time in off the court. His work ethic and passion for the game don’t go unnoticed.
He is looking for a strong academic college or university that gives him the opportunity to play basketball and graduate in four years with a degree.
With his strong support system from his parents, grandmother, and former friend and mentor Steve McElvene, Diquan has what he needs to stay on track.
Keep an eye out for Diquan Meriwether as he gets re-acquainted with the Northside system, team, and staff. The sophomore guard will do what’s necessary to help the team get as far into the post-season as possible.
