The 6’5” freshman wing plays for the Snider Panthers in the tough Summit Athletic Conference in Fort Wayne. Duff ran with the Spiece Gym Rats 2020 – Archbold with fellow SAC freshman Jake Archbold. Duff has really grown these past few years and has seen his game transform from primarily low post in middle school to a wing/guard position at the high school level.
“I feel this team has a lot of potential and I want to see us win the regular season SAC Title.” This is what Duff had to say about the start of the season for Snider. They lost a tough semi-final game to Homestead in the SAC Tournament last week. Dillon knows how good this team can be and is doing everything he can to help them reach their full potential.
Duff has been coming off-the-bench for Snider this season and has been giving them some good minutes. “I’ve done a good job coming in the game and getting to the free-throw line, playing post defense, and getting rebounds.” Duff understands his role with this team and does what he can to help this team win games.
With the limited minutes on varsity, Duff has also been getting some minutes with the JV team so that he can work on his game. On the JV team, Dillon has been handling the ball and getting to the rim to create baskets for his team.
Duff has seen his game go from primarily back to the basket post-up game to a wing/slashing game style. As he continues to move out to the wing, Dillon is hard at work on his handles and shooting ability.
He knows his strengths consist of slashing, post defense/offense, and rebounding. At the varsity-level he is working on adding ball handling, outside shooting, and defense on the point guard through power forward position. His long frame and athleticism allow him to guard players bigger than he is but he is working on his footwork to be able to keep smaller guards in front of him.
As his jump shot becomes more consistent and he is more comfortable with the ball in his hands, Duff will be a threat on the wing for Snider in the coming years. He’s got Malik Williams to learn from this year and he will be a great asset to the growth in Duff’s game.
Keep an eye out for Dillon to continue giving good minutes off-the-bench for Snider this season and for his roles to continue expanding. The freshman wing is just starting to come into his own and is on the right path for success in the future.
