Prep Hoops Colorado 3A Team Rankings: Week 7
The top five teams in the Prep Hoops Colorado 3A Team Rankings from last week took care of business as teams opened up league play.
There was plenty of shakeup in the rankings after that, though, including the debut of three new teams.
Here’s the full 3A rankings for Week 7:
1. Resurrection Christian (11-0; LW: 1)
The Cougars are handling the jump to 3A just fine. They opened Patriot League play last week by twice eclipsing the 100-point mark in blowout victories over Valley and Brush.
2. Colorado Springs Christian (8-2; LW: 2)
There is no shame in losing to the defending 4A champ, as CSC did 48-41 to Pueblo West last week. The Lions also added victories over Rye and James Irwin during the 2-1 week.
3. Manitou Springs (9-0; LW: 3)
The Mustangs returned to the court after nearly a month off and didn’t miss a beat, cruising to victories over Ellicott and Rye. Senior guard Davyn Adamscheck scored a career-high 27 points in the win over Ellicott.
4. Sterling (8-1; LW: 4)
An overtime victory over University and a hard-fought win over Strasburg moved the Tigers to 2-0 in league action. Junior Bodie Hume continues to be a big-time playmaker for Sterling.
5. Alamosa (8-1; LW: 5)
The Maroons showed they can win multiple ways in victories over Montezuma-Cortez (75-63) and Pagaosa Springs (42-37) that got them off to a 2-0 start in Intermountain League play.
6. Kent Denver (9-2; 2-0)
Sophomore Coby Gold led four Sundevils players in double figures with 13 points in the closely contested win over Faith Christian last week. Kent Denver also had a win over Peak to Peak that moved them to the top of the Metro League standings.
7. Bishop Machebeuf (9-1; LW: unranked)
The Buffaloes, whose only loss this season is to No. 3 Manitou Springs, had a monster week in defeating Colorado Academy, St. Mary’s and University. Kyler Hensel, a 6-2 uncommitted senior guard, is averaging 22.3 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
8. Faith Christian (7-3; LW: 6)
The Eagles found themselves in two close games last week to open Metro League play, losing to Kent Denver 64-58 and beating Colorado Academy 63-58. Faith Christian gets a big non-league test this week in strong 4A program D’Evelyn.
9. DSST Stapleton (7-3; LW: unranked)
Wins over the Academy and Platte Canyon moved the Knights to 4-0 in Frontier League play. Two of Stapleton’s three losses this season have come to 4A schools.
10. Basalt (8-1; LW: unranked)
The Longhorns have won eight straight since dropping their opener to Del Norte. Michael Glen, a 6-7 senior, is averaging better than 23 points and 11 rebounds per game.
