After a lengthy break for most schools in 3A, the teams were back in action last week, and the return to the court brought some movement into our rankings.

Let’s take a look at where teams stand after games played through Saturday, Dec. 7:

1. Resurrection Christian (9-0; LW: 2)

The Cougars sprang back to action and kept their perfect record in tact by beating Coal Ridge 76-73 behind 29 points from Tanner Ervin, who has continued a scintillating senior season in RC’s rise up from 2A. The victory also put the Cougars in the top spot of our rankings for the first time.

2. Colorado Springs Christian (6-1; Last week: 1)

The Lions split a pair of games against 5A teams at the Rampart tournament last week, losing to the host 70-54 and then beating Fruita Monument 54-51 in overtime. They get another big test tonight in the form of a game against 4A Pueblo West, a matchup of defending state champs in their respective classifications.

3. Manitou Springs (7-0; LW: 3)

The Mustangs finally return to the court Tuesday after a nearly month-long layoff, hosting Ellicott. Look for a big game out of 6-0 junior guard Cole Sienknecht, who is averaging 14 points per game and is shooting 89 percent from the free-throw line.

4. Sterling (6-1; LW: 4)

The Tigers also return after a long break Tuesday, visiting University in Greeley to open up Patriot League play. Sterling is on a five game winning streak, with all but one of the wins coming by double digits.

5. Alamosa (6-1; LW: 5)

The Maroons returned to their winning ways last week with a 55-50 victory over visiting Kent Denver. Ryan Brubacher poured in 25 points in the victory.

6. Faith Christian (6-2; LW: 7)

The Eagles got back on track Saturday with a resounding 60-34 victory over the Pinnacle. Benjamin Hawkins, a 6-3 junior guard, continues to be one of the best players in the classification, scoring 23 points in the win.

7. Kent Denver (7-2; LW: 8)

The Sun Devils bounced back from a narrow loss to Alamosa by trouncing Monte Vista. Kent Denver gets a major test on Wednesday against Faith Christian in a battle of top-10 teams.

8. Colorado Academy (6-4; LW: 6)

The Mustangs split a pair of games last week, losing to DSST Green Valley Ranch and topping Kennedy. Tye Thompson, CA’s 6-4 senior guard, is averaging 15.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists this season.

9. Strasburg (5-1; LW: 9)

Conner Martin hit 4-of-5 3-point shots and scored a game-high 21 points on Saturday to lead Strasburg to a rout of Wiggins. The Indians get a big test on Friday night when they travel to play Sterling.

10. Frontier Academy (5-2; LW: unranked)

Zach Hidalgo and company finally get to the court on Tuesday, when they host Estes Park to kick off Patriot League play.
