Player Of The Week: Sam Wilson
Another POTW (presented by Intensive Basketball Camps) crown awaits Sam Wilson after a week where performances of 25, 31 and 31 points helped Farmington move to a 7-8 record that nobody predicted before the season. They were supposed to be bad; they weren’t supposed to be taking Apple Valley to overtime.
“Only two guys had varsity experience coming into the season, so we have a bunch of young guys playing,” Wilson said. “That’s why I think most people excepted us to be very bad, but the younger guys have worked hard and learned their roles. Coach gives me a lot of freedom and lets me run the offense, and we’ve just been playing good team basketball lately.”
Averaging 21.7 PPG, Wilson has caught the eye of several local colleges.
“The three schools showing a lot of interest are UW-River Falls, Augsburg and Saint Mary’s,” he said. “Also Central Iowa has been talking to me. I’ve visited Augsburg and Saint Mary’s… money will play a huge impact into my choice along with the location of the school.”
