Player Of The Week: Brad Davison
It’s time to honor Maple Grove senior Brad Davison, last week’s winner of the Northstar Hoops Player Of The Week, presented by the Intensive Basketball Camp.
With this criteria, Brad racked up 4,900+ votes:
First, on Tuesday, his buzzer-beating 3-pointer sent the game against Totino-Grace to overtime; he finished with 26 points in the win. Then, on Saturday, Brad helped Maple Grove to a key win over Hopkins with 41 points (including seven made 3-pointers).
That’s a pretty good resumé. One thing worth noting is that he had some stiff competition; Sean Sutherlin was right behind him and only lost by 0.39%. Props to Sean as well, who is having a great season scoring the ball in his own right.
We caught up with Brad the day after he attended the Gopher/Badger game as a committed UW recruit. He joins Kobe King (La Crosse) and Nate Reuvers (Lakeville) as incoming freshmen this fall.
“It’s an incoming class that has a lot of talent and versatility,” he told NHR. “We have the opportunity to do something special at Wisconsin, and we can’t wait to get started!”
The game was incredibly close for the entire duration, and it ended up going into overtime before the Badgers squeaked out a two-point final advantage.
“I was able to say hi to the coaches and players after the game,” Brad added. “It was great to see them all again. They just said it was a great college basketball game.”
Brad is averaging 26.9 PPG for Maple Grove. The Crimson’s next game is Tuesday, when it travels to Anoka for a 7 PM contest.
