The Newsome junior has helped the Wolves get out to an 11-4 record right out of the gates. Islam has made shots from the outside and can drive inside as well.
Islam had 16 points in a win over Plant City last week. The 6’3″, 187-pounder had three 3’s against the Raiders and six rebounds and two assists. He had this to say about this season so far.
“The season has been going well so far, we have a tough district full of competitive teams,” Islam said. “I’m looking forward to improve my decision-making and ball-handling. I’m really comfortable now as a junior, I’ve been given much more freedom from my coaches which I enjoy.”
Islam breaks down his own game.
“I would say I’m an athletic scoring guard. This season I have become much more confident and I’m able to shoot the ball a lot better.”
He doesn’t play for an AAU team just yet, but Islam is looking to join Nike South Beach this summer.
No offers or interest have come his way. However, there is something about Islam that you can’t ignore, his dedication on the court. Not only is he quick and good as an outside shooter, but it is clear when you watch him play that he means business. Expect this 2018 prospect to earn looks as the season goes on.
