Provo- Hunter Erickson has slowly become one of the top guards in the state of Utah, while being just a junior at Timpview. He leading his team in almost every offensive category and they are currently ranked as the #1 team in 4A. Hunter scores the ball in a variety of ways, but is a major threat from 3 point land. He has impressive range on his jumper and a lighting quick release, but Hunter really is a complete scorer with no holes in his game at the high school level.
His deceptive athletic ability allows him to get into the paint with ease and finish over bigger stronger opponents, at 6’3 and 180 pounds he has great size for the point guard position. Hunter says, “Our goal is to go 14-0 in region, get back to the state tournament and make up for last years loss by winning the title”.
Erickson can get hot in a hurry, and for opposing players and coaches it can seem like the rim is the size of the LaVell Edwards Stadium when he catches fire. He can have 30 points going into the 4th quarter, doing it with 6 or 7 3’s and a few powerful dunks in transition. Hunter may be the best point guard in the state of Utah and is currently averaging 26 PPG, which is second in the entire state of Utah respectively.
He plays for Utah Prospects in AAU and is currently being recruited by California State Northridge, Hawaii, UVU, BYU, University of Denver, and Utah State. Hunter will serve a two year LDS mission and will start his freshman year the 2020-2021 season.
