Northstar Hoops Minnesota National Guard — Team of the Week Jan 23-28
Here are this week’s options for Team of the Week presented by Minnesota National Guard:
Pine Island
The Panthers started the week off with a bang, upsetting No. 4A Goodhue Monday in overtime. There was no letdown game either as the Panthers backed that up with a win at Zumbrota-Mazeppa the next night. Pine Island wrapped up the week with a blowout win over Cannon Falls.
Tartan
The Titans picked up two big wins last week, handily defeating North St. Paul and St. Thomas Academy. Tartan’s only loss on the year is a six-point loss at Mahtomedi and the wins over the Cadets and Polars keeps them alive in the conference race.
Rochester Lourdes
When teams beat Goodhue, people notice. The Eagles bounced back from a 16-point loss to Caledonia the previous weekend and picked up two solid wins last week. Lourdes beat Hayfield in double overtime before knocking off Goodhue 38-34.
Delano
The Tigers improved to 13-3 on the year and picked up a pair of wins last week. They opened the week with a blowout win over Holy Family Catholic and wrapped it up with a huge win over No. 5AAA Orono. Calvin Wishart starred in that one, scoring 32 points.
Nevis
Winners of 10 games in a row, the Tigers are on a roll. Nevis picked up two huge wins last week, starting with a 60-40 win at No. 2A Red Lake Tuesday. The Tigers backed that up with a 13-point win over Cass Lake-Bena — the team that handed them their only loss on the season.
