This kid is a freshman, so that adds some grandeur to his performance in a win last Monday night. And with a line like this, we’re wondering how long it might be before the 6’3 forward puts together a triple-double.
Jeremiah Bor Khat (Siouxland Christian) — 26 points on 9-12 FGs (6-7 3s), 9 rebounds, 4 blocks
He’s been second-fiddle to standout senior Christian Kyles all season, but this night belonged to Bor Khat. The 6’3 guard was a sniper from deep, connecting on six of his seven 3-point attempts. He’s grown four inches over the past year, and that has to have a direct correlation with his high blocked-shot numbers.
Dakota Soenkson (Camanche) — 35 points (9-17 3s)
Those nine made 3s are tied for the 5th most this season, and the 35 points means he was scoring in other ways than just the deep ball. And he did it on a night when his Indians beat a good Prince of Peace Prep squad by 23 points after hanging 34 in the first quarter.
Logan Hoffman (Tipton) — 37 points, 8 rebounds
Still just a junior, Hoffman has established himself as one of 2018’s best scorers, netting 23.2 points per game this season. He went off for a season-high 37 of them last Tuesday night, and his Tigers would need all of it to escape narrowly against Mid Prairie-Wellman.
Mason Porter (New London) — 28 points, 15 rebounds, 2 blocks
He’s become one of Iowa’s most dangerous young players, and at 6-foot-3 he’s able to dominate the glass unlike many other young guards in the state. Those 15 rebounds are most impressive here, but the 28 points are nothing to scoff at either.
Lim Chuol (Chariton) — 23 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists, 6 blocks, 4 steals
Over the past two seasons this senior Kingdom Hoops product has become known as a do-it-all stat-stuffer for the Chargers. He put together a quintessential stat-stuffing performance last Tuesday in a 15-point win over Clarke.
Garrett Franken (Atlantic) — 21 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks
This future North Dakota Fighting Hawk has already been Player of the Week and is averaging 24.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game this season. He can play all five positions, and his versatility definitely showed up in the stat sheet during this 68-62 win over Glenwood.
Jal Bijiek (Des Moines North) — 22 points on 8-11 FGs, 14 blocks, 10 rebounds
Fourteen blocks: are you kidding me? We did some digging; that’s the most blocks in an Iowa high school game since Jan. 4th of 2014, when Ethan Steinbronn swatted 16 away. Most impressive about Bijiek: he’s not even a post, but a wing.
Brady Sartorius (Mount Pleasant) — 33 points on 10-14 FGs, 10-10 FTs, 4 steals
As steady of a guard as there is in the state, Sartorius has been methodically putting together solid games all season for the Panthers. But he kicked it up a notch last Friday night in a 43-point shellacking of Fairfield.
Jake Crozier (Twin Cedars, Bussey) — 22 points, 23 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 blocks
Known for his prowess on the gridiron, this big-bodied 6’5 post has been posting huge numbers of late, and we at Prep Hoops Iowa re big fans of 20/20 games. But he’s also an adept passer, and the two blocks are a nice bonus.
