Iowa Player of the Week (6)
Tajen Ross (ADM)
Ross has become a one of the state’s most dangerous guards, and has made a meteoric rise in the 2017 rankings because of it. He’s enjoying a very nice season, averaging 24.3 points per game on 53 percent shooting. Last week he came to a boil averaging 27 points per game on excellent shooting and threw down one of the nastiest dunks we’ve ever seen in the process.
TJ Schnurr (Bishop Garrigan)
This sophomore impressed us last spring while playing in a tournament at Kingdom Courts, now he’s getting it done in the regular season. He flashed his versatility last week, averaging 25.5 points on 64 percent shooting, and most impressive: he was 7-9 from deep in the two games. The 6’5 post pulled down 8 rebounds per game to boot.
Tyreke Locure (Des Moines North)
Iowa’s 2nd-ranked 2019, this sophomore sensation burst out of his seams last week for the Polar Bears. He’s always good, but he took it to another level in the two contests, averaging 31 points, 7 rebounds and 5.5 assists per. Locure is averaging 23.5 points per game this season — second best in 4A.
Jordan Kyle (Harris-Lake Park)
What a week this 6’4 forward put together, and there wasn’t anything Kyle wasn’t able to do for the Wolves. In two games he averaged 30.5 points on a very impressive 71 percent shooting, 6 rebounds, 5 steals and 3.5 assists per game.
Brady Gavin (Martensdale-St Marys)
We got a chance to see this 6’6 junior in person earlier this winter, and we came away very impressed. He seemingly puts up monster numbers each night out, and in two Blue Devils’ wins last week he averaged 20 points, 18 rebounds and 3 blocks per game.
