MONDAY: West Vigo (8-3) at Sullivan (8-5) 7:30 pm
In a very light schedule besides the first round of the Indianapolis City tournament, this is going to be a solid Western Indiana conference matchup. West Vigo and Sullivan are both 3-1 in the conference and both have really good guard play in West Vigo’s Corey Vickers and Ty Drake for Sullivan. The key in the game will be the performance of 6’9 forward Austin Sappingfield for West Vigo.
TUESDAY: New Castle (10-1) at Connersville (13-1) 7:30 pm
There are a lot of solid matchups on this day but this one provides the most intrigue. Both teams records are a bit better than we would expect at this point and both are experiencing a relatively easy schedule up to this point. It will be a good matchup between New Castle’s Mason Gillis and Connersville’s Grant Smith as two 6’6 guys that can score in many different ways.
WEDNESDAY: Twin Lakes (12-1) at Logansport (12-1) 7:30 pm
This matchup pits one of the top teams in 3A against one of the top teams in 4A. Both teams have just one loss and both have handed McCutcheon a loss. Logansport has the upper hand being the home team and the bigger school but the key will be how their defense is. If they can create turnovers and get out and run they should be able to win this one.
THURSDAY: Mishawaka Marian (6-6) at Marquette Catholic (8-5) 7:30 pm
On a light Thursday schedule this game has a lot of intrigue. Marquette Catholic hasn’t won this matchup in over 30 years, although it’s the first meeting since 2005 between the two. On paper it seems as if Mishawaka Marian should win this one easily but Marquette Catholic is always a tough team to face at home as they are 4-1 this year at home.
FRIDAY: Carmel (10-2) at Pike (12-3) 7:30 pm
There are a ton of good games on Friday but this one answers the most questions of any game. Pike is coming off a huge win on Saturday in the Marion County tournament over North Central so winning this one would be big for their momentum heading to the homestretch of the season. On the other hand, Carmel would love to take this one to gain a big win of their own. The two top 10 teams they have played they’ve came away with a loss. Both of these teams will be hungry for a big win.
SATURDAY: Danville (10-3) at Beech Grove (7-5) 7:30 pm
Danville started the year off 9-0 and won the Jeffersonville with a huge win over Cathedral in the championship. Since then, Danville has gone 1-3 and are at risk of losing all momentum into the postseason. Beech Grove is much better than their record shows with all their losses being close besides a drubbing from Roncalli in the Marion County tournament. This is one where both teams are looking to get back to their winning ways.
