Continue ReadingThe 2018 class is still only really coming into the homestretch of their high school careers but one player is off the board already. Lawrence North wing Kevin Easley announced on Wednesday that he has committed to VCU following his official visit this past weekend.
Easley, a 6’6 small forward, is one of the top players in the state and had a ton of offers including schools like Indiana, Purdue, Butler, Cincinnati, Nebraska, and Saint Louis. However, it seems like the relationship he developed with the coaching staff at VCU is what won out in the end. The family has mentioned previously about how they have dealt primarily with head coach Will Wade and how he made Kevin a focus of this recruiting class.
Kevin should fit well in their system and conference. VCU is a very balanced team on both sides of the ball and one of the faster paced teams in the country. Easley loves to play fast and his shooting has become a staple of his game, primarily the pull-up jumper in transition. Lawrence North plays a quick brand of basketball and Easley should have no problem adjusting to the style. The Atlantic-1o Conference has been solid for a few years and looks to get better as VCU and Dayton sit at the top, teams like UMass and Saint Louis continue to look like they are going to get really good very quickly.
While Easley is the only player in 2018 to come off the board in Indiana so far, he isn’t the only big time player in the state. He joins 16 other players in the 2018 Top 100 from Scout.com to have committed nationally.
