Saturday Conference Showcases. Hiawatha Valley vs Three Rivers Conference. A seven game event at the Rochester Civic Center starts early and gives fans to watch local teams go at it all day long. St. Charles and Lake City is the game that headlines plus Caledonia plays Cannon Falls earlier in the day.
Metro East vs Metro West. St. Thomas Academy hosts several teams from the Metro East and Metro West leagues. The games start at around noon with Bloomington Kennedy and goes through the evening when St. Thomas hosts former conference rival St. Thomas. In between the Chaska versus North St. Paul game is a big highlight as is Cooper versus Mahtomedi.
Also Saturday. Minneapolis Henry hosts Jordan, Minneapolis North is at Hopkins in a Class A vs Class AAAA battle of state champs, and Heritage Christian faces Central Minnesota Christian in a non-league Class A top ten battle.
Tuesday Night Class AAAA Showdowns. Apple Valley and Cretin-Derham Hall both lost tough games at the Tip Off Classic. The best way to get things back on track is to beat another top Class AAAA team and the Raiders and Eagles have that chance Tuesday. Daniel Oturo and Tre Jones are the big names and they were AAU teammates all summer. Another Top Ten showdown will be Lakeville North playing at Chaska with Wisconsin bound Nathan Reuvers facing Columbia bound Myles Hanson headlining.
Also Tuesday Park Center and Osseo go head to head as the Pirates look to take the next step against last year’s champ. East Ridge vs St. Louis Park is another interesting game that night as will Lakeville South at Hopkins. Rochester JM tries to get back on the winning track at Red Wing in a huge Big Nine game.
Four Corners of Big Games. In the southeast the Rushford-Peterson versus Goodhue game will tell a lot. Heading more to the south central area St. Clair faces Maple River. Heading to the northwestern area Melrose faces a stiff challenge against Minnewaska Area and closer to Lake Superior there will be an entertaining game between Proctor and Crosby-Ironton. In the southwest corner Marshall faces defending Class AA runner-up Jackson County Central.
Thursday Up and Comers. Bloomington Jefferson is a squad that could be top ten and if they are they beat Prior Lake on the Thursday special. Prior Lake is supposed to be very good this year and if they are this is a game they should show well in. Trent West against Tyler Riemersma will be fun inside.
How good is Willmar? They won the first three and now they step up in competition against St. Cloud Tech. The Fergus Falls versus Sauk Rapids-Rice game is key too IF the Storm has all of their guys eligible. The game of the night is likely Maple River at WEM.
Wednesday Night? Yep. Hastings is at Eastview. The game that keeps the life of TC Hoops Czar busy midweek!
Friday Night Predictions. Friday is and will always be the game of the night in high school basketball. We will dive deeper into this on Friday but planning ahead is key and there are some big games on Friday including; Totino-Grace at Armstrong, Maple Grove at Park Center, Eden Prairie at Wayzata, Hopkins at Edina, East Ridge at CDH, Byron at Rochester Lourdes, and St. Louis Park at Minnehaha Academy.
