Teyvion Kirk Decommits
When Drake Head Coach Ray Giacoletti resigned fans across the state of Illinois wondered what would happen with their two in-state top 20 backcourt 2017 signees. PrepHoopsIllinois has been informed that Joliet West senior point guard Teyvion Kirk has asked for and been granted his release from Drake. He told us why he decided to reopen his recruitment.
“Coach Ray was a big part of the plan. We talked everyday and I was real comfortable with him. I went there to play under him because I knew he believed in me 100% so that change played a huge factor.”
Kirk is currently the #14 overall prospect and #5 point guard in Illinois. Those are both expected to rise in the mid-season rankings after a dominant start to the season including a 27 point performance at the Chicago Elite Classic against North Lawndale. The 6’3″ lead guard is a long and rangy floor general that has a good feel for the game, can knock down mid-range jumpers, and is a tough on ball defender. Really improved his athleticism over the last six months. Look for tons of mid-major plus schools to jump in on Kirk’s recruitment.
He ran with All-In/Young & Reckless on the circuit this past summer.
