North Scott never got it going on Saturday night, falling to Moline in the Genesis Shootout, 55-39, in a game in which the Lancers shot just 29.6% from the floor.
Leading scorer Bailey Basala didn’t hit a field goal all evening (0-5), and Corvon Seales went just 2-6 from the floor as North Scott struggled to get either of their standouts going on the offensive end.
The game started in an odd way, with Moline shooting a pair of technical free throws and getting possession before any time came off the clock. North Scott was assessed a pre-game technical foul after one of their players hung on the net during warmups. Moline led for literally all 32 minutes of the contest.
North Scott (4-2) was led by Corvon Seales, the only Lancer in double figures, with 10. Drew Boffeli added eight, and Bailey Basala had five points and 11 rebounds.

MVP: Corvon Seales
In a game in which his team couldn’t get anything going offensively, Seales finished in double figures. He was able to get to the rim a few times in the second half, and was able to get to the free throw line consistently.
Best offensive performance: Corvon Seales
Seales and Gary Morgan (a pair of 3s) were the only players to really get anything ever going offensively. The 6-2 wing had a few nice drives for buckets.
Best defensive performance: Corvon Seales
Moline largely did whatever they wanted on the offensive end, but Seales made a couple of nice plays on the defensive side, including an impressive block on Deonte Billups in the open court.
Stat of the game: North Scott shoots 29.6% from the floor
For the second straight game, a team was held below 30% shooting. This time it was North Scott who was just never able to get anything going in an ugly performance.
Oddest moment: North Scott charged with a technical pre-game
It’s happened before, but I’ve yet to see it. North Scott was charged with a technical foul after a player hung on the net during the pregame. Moline started the game with a pair of free throws and possession. Nathan Hurt knocked both down, giving Moline a 2-0 lead with no time gone.
