The 6’6 swingman is extremely versatile on the court, and it has helped Hathaway get off to one of the best starts in school history, at 13-1. (It might be a matter of semantics, but Hathaway has beaten every team it has played. After losing to Iowa, Hathaway came back three days later and beat Iowa by 20.
There isn’t much that Guidry can’t do. He is more than capable of backing down smaller defenders in the post and playing bully ball, but if you think that he is just a slow unathletic post player, he will be more than happy to show you his full range of skills. He is more than comfortable around the perimeter and has range that extends beyond the college three point line. If you close out too hard on him, he can get to the rim in two dribbles and finish over you. There isn’t much that he can’t do, and for his size has excellent passing vision. I was truly amazed watching him, just how often he made the right basketball play, something he says he worked on this summer. “I have become a lot smarter, and see the game in a totally different perspective than I did when I was younger and less experienced.” He is more than capable of moving down a position at the next level, and play SF.
Guidry really performed well at our Prep Hoops Top 250 Camp this past summer, and has used that as well as a really consistent summer to gain the attention of multiple local universities about playing there next year. Guidry says that he has spoken to Northwestern St., Millsaps, Centenary, and LSUA, and has taken a few visits to LSUA.
Guidry says that he has a 3.4 GPA, and a 18 on the ACT, although he is retaking it in December to try to improve.
