Justin Boley has provided much needed leadership for the young Roy High Royals. He is the second leading scorer at 11 points per game and also is averaging 8 rebounds per game as his teams sits at 3-0 in the young season. Roy plays a lineup that consists of a majority of underclassman. The 6’5 forward (Boley) provides a much needed presence in the middle and also has the ability to step outside and hit the jumper.
Boley had this to say on his team’s 3-0 start, “We have committed to playing great defense. We feel like this is how we’re going to be successful this year and I know I need to be the leader on defense. I also think we’re executing on offense at a high level. We’re playing as a team and whoever is open is taking the shot.” Boley talked about his prediction on how his team will finish in Region 1 play, “I definitely think will finish in the top three in region but I think we can compete for a Region 1 crown.”
When asked about his strengths as a player Boley said, “I think i’m a well rounded offensive player and this helps me to be a consistent scorer. I’m feel like I have very solid post moves and I have the ability to step out and shoot the outside shot. I also use my speed to blow my slower defenders when I have the ball outside.” Talking about his weaknesses he said, “one thing I often do is commit dumb fouls. I have tried to limit this as i’ve gotten older and this season I’m going to try and stay out of foul trouble. Another thing I need to work on is extendeding my shooting range out to the three point line. If I want to play at the next level I need to be able stretch the floor as an undersized forward.”
After graduation Boley is looking to play at the next level. Even though he is undersized for a forward I believe he can be a face up forward at the college level. Boley can play at a lower level junior college and also at a mid level NAIA school. Boley also has excellent grades which makes him a solid student-athlete prospect.
