One Texas Division II school and a local NAIA program are the two that Green identified as suitors.
“I did get a look from a school in Dallas, Dallas Baptist, they’re Division II and we’ve been keeping in contact,” said Green “And I got a look from Xavier in New Orleans, they communicated with me when I went to a showcase there, and that’s about it.”
The Bonnabel senior elaborated on his Dallas Baptist interest.
“We’ve been texting and communicating, and they’ve been talking about possibly offering me a scholarship,” said Green, who explained his Xavier interest.
“Their coach talked to me and said he wanted me to come work out for the team, and I did the day after. And there were a couple other guys there from the class of 2017 and we just played pick-up and stuff.”
As his senior season wears on, Green is hopeful that his recruitment can pick up some steam.
“I hope I do get a little more exposure before the end of the year, and a couple college coaches come and pick me up,” said Green. “But if not, I’m just going to focus on my education and hopefully I can get into a decent school and just walk-on maybe, and play basketball that way.”
A pass-first point guard, Green explained his playing style to PHLA.
“I just like to attack the rim and be aggressive, and just play team ball,” he said. “I like to facilitate and take the open shots when I get one, and just be a team player.”
After spending his first three seasons at Destrehan, Green is spending his senior season at Bonnabel. He’s still adjusting to his new environment.
“I’m not really playing as good as I feel I can. I’m not really as comfortable as I should be yet, but I think as time goes on I’ll be able to do the things I know I can do and be more confident in my game,” he said.
“I started with them during the summer league and the chemistry was good then. And we’re 9-2 to start the season, but we’re still trying to get to where we need to be.”
