And with his size, versatile skill-set and room to grow, there could be several other offers that come his way before his high school career comes to an end.
Henry was offered by North Dakota during the summer, and several other D1 programs are aware of who he is.
“I had been doing a bunch of workouts with Xavier (Foster), like Iowa State, Iowa and Drake. And then North Dakota contacted my dad (John Henry) who is the coach at William Penn, and they said they wanted to come and do a workout with me,” said Henry.
“They said they liked my game and offered me on the spot, and that they were excited to see me develop. I was ecstatic because it was my first one.”
Henry added: “The few schools that are really interested are obviously North Dakota, and Drake has been interested, Iowa State knows who I am. Wright State has been interested also, and UNI wants to come watch me work out too.
Though he’s still quite young, and has several years for his recruitment to materialize, Henry did mention some ultimate goals with his recruitment.
“The three schools I would like to play for are Iowa State, Iowa, or UNI, that’s always been my dream since I was a little kid,” he said.
With his great size, and an ever-developing versatile skill-set, those goals may be attainable for the skilled lefty.
“To be completely honest I think my best skill is my ability to see the floor,” said Henry. “In transitions I can bring the ball up the floor, and I think I have a pretty good ability to get the ball to my teammates. I can finish around the rim pretty well, and I have some nice touch with my left hand because I’m a lefty.”
After averaging just 1.1 points and 1.2 rebounds per game as a freshman with the Indians, Henry is ready for a much-increased role this winter.
“I’m the tallest one on the starting lineup, so they have me starting at the five position. They’re expecting me to get rebounds and average around 10 per game, also run the floor really well and get dunks,” said Henry.
“I would like to average around 10 points and 10 rebounds, but I’m mostly focused on our team. We have a combined 13 wins in the last three seasons, and we’d really like to step that up. Personally, I would like to win more than just get stats, and hopefully we can do that.”
