Because of that he was placed in high-regard when our summer 2019 rankings came out, and he currently sits at No. 21 in Iowa.
But just a sophomore still, and without major out-of-state exposure, Hinote has seen zero interest come his way so far.
“I have not seen anything yet,” said Hinote, who mentioned he’ll again be playing with the Iowa Cornsharks next spring and summer.
“I don’t really care when it (recruitment) happens, I know it will come. I just need to keep working hard and it will eventually show up.”
With a tight handle and a some precision shooting, Hinote has the skill set to flourish at Greene County over the next several seasons.
“My dad is my trainer, and I’ve been working on ball-handling first, and then a lot of stuff off the dribble. And I’m working on my release to make it quicker,” said Hinote, who mentioned one weakness of his.
“I need to stay more aggressive throughout the whole game. Sometimes I tend to take breaks and take plays off, and I need to stay aggressive throughout the game.”
Off to a hot start to his sophomore season, Hinote is averaging 15.8 points per game and shooting it well from deep, connecting on 48 percent of his 3-point attempts.
“I’ve got to be more aggressive and take more shots this year. Me and Trey Tucker run the show, so we have to kind of do it all,” said Hinote.
“Personally I’d like to average 16 points and 6 assists this season. And then we just want to win. We had a tough last season, but we have a new coach in here and he’s helping out.”
