And although the interest is very initial, it’s still a nice start for the 6-foot-2 sophomore.
“So far there hasn’t been that much (recruitment), Cleveland State has been coming and then Ohio State and Texas said they’d come look at one of my games. But pretty much the schools I’ve heard from most are Liberty and Kent State, they both send a lot of mail,” said Corbin, who elaborated on the Ohio State interaction.
“Their coaches came to an open gym before the season started and said they like my game.”
With still his 16U & 17U seasons ahead of him, plus the majority of his high school career, Corbin says he’s not too concerned with recruitment just yet.
“It’s not anything I really focus on. I know I’m only a sophomore so I’m just trying to get better everyday and it will come when it comes,” he said.
Mainly an offensive threat, Corbin — Ohio’s 14th-ranked 2019 — says his best strength is his jumper. But he likes to consider his skill-set to be versatile.
“My strengths are mostly on the offensive side. Probably my best attribute is shooting mid-range and 3s, and I can bring the ball up the court too and make plays for others while attacking,” said Corbin. “On the defensive side I can guard the one through four, and I feel I’m a pretty good rebounder.”
As his sophomore season wears on, Corbin says his role on the team is to remain confident and to produce offense.
“My role is definitely to score the ball,” he said. “I’m definitely confident in what I can do, and all around offensively I just need to do what I can do, and get baskets for others also.”
