Prep Hoops Colorado 4A Team Rankings: Week 3
There was shifting at the top — and elsewhere — in this week’s 4A rankings.
Check it out:
1. Pueblo West (3-0; Last week: 2)
In their only game last week, the Cyclones stormed past Cheyenne Mountain behind 24 points from junior guard Pierre Taylor.
2. Valor Christian (2-1; LW: 1)
After falling to 5A Doherty in it season opener last week, the Eagles rebounded with victories over Grand Junction and Rocky Mountain.
3. Sand Creek (5-1; LW: 3)
The Scorpions started 3-0 last week before suffering an upset loss to Pueblo Central on Saturday. D’Shawn Schwartz is averaging nearly 30 points per game for Sand Creek.
4. Holy Family (3-1; LW: 4)
The Tigers had only one game last week, a 70-40 win over Niwot. A Saturday game against talented 5A squad Broomfield on Saturday will be a big test.
5. Golden (5-1; LW: 5)
The Demons were highly impressive last week, with victories over Fossil Ridge, Longmont and Conifer.
6. Vista PEAK (6-0; LW: 7)
Victories over Coronado, Fruita Monument and Manual came by an average of 15.3 points. Marquise Johnson, a 5-11 uncommitted senior, is averaging 14.5 points and 4.3 assists per game.
7. Mead (3-1; LW: 9)
The only game for the Mavericks last week was a 60-57 victory over D’Evelyn. Senior Michael Ward poured in 28 points in that victory.
8. Sierra (3-1; LW: 6)
The Stallions shook of an overtime loss to Denver South to begin last week by beating 5A squads Arvada West and Palmer. They get a big test Tuesday against Holy Family.
9. D’Evelyn (5-1; LW: unranked)
The Jaguars are showing they’ll be a major hand full in the 4A JeffCo League this season.
10. Lewis-Palmer (3-1; LW: 8)
After a busy opening week, the Rangers were idle last week. They get a big test Tuesday against Vista PEAK.
