MVP | ALAN TREAKLE | WAKEFIELD ’17
Alan Treakle got it going defensively, where he recorded 5 first quarter steals. Treakle didn’t slow down from there, as he continuously got into the paint where he consistently finished and created easy looks for his teammates. The unsigned senior guard scored 17 points for the Warriors.
BEST PLAY
There wasn’t really a “best” play in this contest, but there was nice a moment early in the second half when Treakle orchestrated a set play resulting in a two-handed dunk for Cooper. This play set the tone for the second half and the rest of the game.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | HALIL PARKS | WAKEFIELD ’17
Halil Parks scored 15 points from all three levels on Monday night. The senior used the threat of his jump shot to consistently get into the teeth of the defense where he showed craftiness and strength when finishing around the rim.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | AMARI COOPER | WAKEFIELD ’18
Amari Cooper was excellent in fortifying the interior for Wakefield. The 6’5 junior recorded a team-high 9 rebounds and 3 blocks, showcasing impressive athleticism to go along with a high motor and solid instincts.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR-PERFORMANCE | MAHMOUD ELTAHER | WAKEFIELD ’18
6’5 junior big man Mahmoud Eltaher had some nice moments on both ends of the floor. The well-built forward did well to seal his man off down low, and showed strong footwork and touch around the basket. Eltaher was also a forceful paint presence on defense where he secured 8 rebounds and blocked a shot.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | BEN HORSFORD | WAKEFIELD ’18
Ben Horsford has stepped into a key bench role this season for Tony Bentley. The sharpshooting junior guard did well to set up defenders with shot fakes to get easier looks for himself and was rewarded with several foul shot attempts.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | JOSH ODURO | BATTLEFIELD ’19
6’7 sophomore Josh Oduro appears to still be growing, and is going to be a very good player if he continues to work hard. Oduro showed his touch around the rim and a strong work rate. He rebounded the ball well in traffic.
BEST INTANGIBLES | ALAN TREAKLE | WAKEFIELD ’17
Treakle helped the Warriors control the game and dictate pace. He led by example, diving on the floor for 50/50 balls and being deliberate with his decision-making offensively. Treakle is an extension of the coaching staff on the floor, and his impact on this game in particular was significant.
BEST CATCH AND SHOOT GUY | JOE DAVIS | BATTLEFIELD ’17
Joe Davis imposed his will at times on the offensive end with his craftiness and athleticism. Davis is a very capable jump shooter from downtown where he showcased a quick and confident release.
BEST PASSER | ALAN TREAKLE | WAKEFIELD ’17
Treakle did well to push the ball up the court in transition to his wings. He ran the pick and roll well and effectively distributed the ball from various angles.
BEST REBOUNDER | AMARI COOPER | WAKEFIELD ’18
Cooper was the game’s leading rebounder with 9. The athletic 6’5 junior gave consistent effort and had good box-out technique on the defensive glass.
