Luke Reimer, a sophomore from Ashland High School was voted the inaugural Player of the Week in the state of Kansas. With more than 1,300 votes total Reimer was able to receive 512 votes total (38.35%).
Reimer, who led the team in rebounding and scoring as a freshman and currently leads them in rebounding and scoring as a sophomore had himself a couple of stellar performances during the week of December 11th-17th. The Blue Jay guard was able to post a 23 point game in a loss to Attica then followed that up with 32 points in a loss against Ingalls later on in the week.
Ashland head coach Garth Gardiner, who has been Reimers coach through Junior High where they won two league championships together had high praise for his sophomore guard.
“Luke is just one of those guys that you really feel fortunate to have on your team,” Gardiner said. “He is a very gifted athlete and has ability to get to the rim with an explosive first step, and is also a very capable shooter from outside.
“Luke is a competitor, and he breeds that to the rest of our team,” Gardiner said.
