Iowa Player of the Week (4)
Riley Helmers (Algona)
His Bulldogs won by 22 over Hampton-Dumont last Monday thanks in large part to Helmers’ 26 points and 7 rebounds. Then, in a narrow loss to Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, the 6-foot-4 forward was again stellar, netting 15 points on 5-8 shooting to go with 12 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 blocks.
Thomas Hensley (CAM, Anita)
The biggest reason why the Cougars are on a four game win streak is junior Thomas Hensley. In two wins last week the 5-foot-9 guard averaged 26.5 points on 53 percent shooting (9-16 3s), 4.5 rebounds and 3 assists per game. He especially got it done defensively, swiping 10 total steals in the two wins.
Matthew Hill (Colo-NESCO)
What a season this senior big-man is having. His Royals are wiping teams out of late, and Hill has been prolific in the process. He amassed 59 points (25-34 FGs), 17 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals and 5 blocks in two huge wins last week.
Dylan Hundley (Camanche)
His impressive season came to a boil last week when he averaged 21 points on 53 percent shooting, 9 rebounds, 4 assists and 3.5 steals in two wins. What was perhaps most impressive was his 14-14 performance from the free throw line in a big win over West Branch on Monday.
Brady Sartorius (Mount Pleasant)
One of the state’s best point guards, Sartorius was on full display during a three win week for the Panthers. First was a 20 point, 4 steal performance against Centerville. Then a 26 point, 8 assist dazzler vs. West Burlington, and he capped his week with a 26 point, 5 rebound, 5 assist game against Harlan: all wins.
