This summer Haywood chose to delay his college choice and attend Brewster Academy in the northeast. The extra year at Brewster has done wonders for Haywood, but possibly the biggest thing is it provided him a chance to prove on a national stage that he has what it takes to be a good player at the High Major Division I level.
Haywood is a high level wing at 6’5 with the skills, size and athleticism to play the 2 or the 3. Georgia Tech will be getting a freshmen that is very skilled and will have the ability to come in and play right away. The year at Brewster has better prepared Haywood to go to Georgia Tech and play right away.
The ACC is regarded by many as the best basketball conference in the country, Haywood will get a crack at some of the blue bloods in college basketball in conference play. The relationship Haywood built with the coaching staff was key in his decision to commit to Georgia Tech.
“Coach Pastner is great energetic guy,” said Haywood. “He knows how to make players better and work hard.”
Recently, Haywood visited Georgia Tech and was very impressed. The location of Atlanta was appealing to Haywood to go along with the campus.
Haywood is a knock down shooter from behind the arc. He has proved his game at Mustang dominating his the high school landscape with the Broncos, on the Nike EYBL Circuit and with Brewster on a national scene. Defensively, Georgia Tech will enjoy the fact that Haywood makes it a point to be a two way player. He holds his own defensively using his size and athleticism to give his opponents fits. The work ethic of Haywood is evident with the improvements his game has continually made over his high school career.
Haywood has a bright future on the hardwood. Georgia Tech got one of the most under the radar wings in the 2017 Class.
