Top 10 Rankings (3A)
Each year during the high school season we will rank the teams in Divisions 5A down to 1A, with a quick explanation of each.
With the season underway with a few teams already having played a few games here are our first set of 2A rankings:
1.Dixie (3-0)
The defending 3A State Champions look like favorites to head back to the championship game. We anticipate Dixie going 7-0 when they face Ridgeline, which should be a fun battle to watch. 6’4 So. Tanner Cuff and 6’1 Sr. Sam Stewart have been playing well early for the Flyers.
2. Ridgeline (2-0)
The Riverhawks have arguably the best player in the state on their team in Jaxon Brechley, but will he have enough to knock of some some of the 3A schools that have reigned in the past.
3. Juan Diego (3-0)
Juan Diego always plays teams tough regardless of classification. The Eagles beat 4A Kearns in a great game. Sr. PG Tan Eslliey had 15. Tan would be a great DIII steal and 6’6 Sr. Steven Price had 15 and a poster dunk in the win. Up next Troy Brown and Centennial, NV.
4. Pine View (3-0)
The Panthers have played teams they should beat thus far. Pine View is lead by 6’8 Trey Farrer who has been a monster in their first 3 games, he could play at the next level.
5. Bear River (4-0)
The Bears will be battle tested when they head into region. They are well coached and could sneak up on some teams that overlook them. 6’4 Mike Litchford is dominating as he is averaging 20 ppg.
6. Desert Hills (3-0)
The Thunder have a schedule that challenges them but they should win most of their pre-season games. 6’4 Jacob Mathews is leading the Thunder in scoring along with Braxton Porter.
7. Hurricane (3-0)
Guards Josh Parker and Jaxon Last have been leading the Tigers as they’re averaging almost identical numbers scoring 14 ppg.
8. Snow Canyon (3-1)
6’3 Jr. Guard Braden Baker has been lighting it up averaging 21 ppg. They will have some tough opponents coming up , a few wins can catapult them in the standings.
9. Grantsville (3-1)
The Cowboys are led by Trevor Colson and Jared Roberts who are averaging double figures .
10. Logan (1-2)
Logan is the only team in the top 10 with a loosing record because it looks like they have actually played some decent opponents. They have 3 players averaging double figures including 6’1 Jr. Guard Jared Bagley who is averaging 22 ppg.
