MVP | ZACH PFAFFENBERGER | EPISCOPAL ’18
Zach Pfaffenberger was the X-Factor for Episcopal in their opening win vs. Pallotti. He was able to contain sophomore Karim Coulibaly and outproduce him both on the boards and offensively. The 6’8 big scored 20 points and snagged 8 boards to go along with 3 steals and 2 dimes. Pfaffenberger hit several mid range jumpers and looked very confident shooting from the catch.
BEST PLAY | CHYREE WALKER | BULLIS ’17
I'm back at it again! 😝 pic.twitter.com/bqTyQ0CoFk
— Chyree Walker (@chyree11) December 17, 2016
Delaware commit Chyree Walker looked very good in his return from injury. The 6’6 wing had the play of the day, a one-handed dunk off a drop step in traffic.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | GEORGE MAWANDA-KALEMA | EPISCOPAL ’17
Coming off the heels of an All-Tournament selection at the Sleepy Thompson, George Mawanda-Kalema hasn’t cooled down. The Brown commit scored 29 points, showcasing his prolific scoring ability from all three levels.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERORMANCE | VADO MORSE | BULLIS ’18
Vado Morse is an absolute pest defensively. The diminutive floor general swiped four steals and recorded several deflections.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR PERFORMANCE | RAFFY BAUMGARDNER | BULLIS ’17
If you’re searching for a strong, athletic wing who can dribble, pass, and shoot, take a look at Raffy Baumgardner. The senior is a sneaky athlete. He had a nice dunk in transition and hit three 3’s on his way to 17 points vs. Mercersburg.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | JASON GIBSON | SIDWELL FRIENDS ’19
Another player returning from injury, Jason Gibson played very well off the bench for Sidwell. The playmaking sharpshooter had several nice moments on both ends of the floor. Gibson dished out some crisp passes, took charges, and scored both in the paint and from the perimeter.
BEST REBOUNDER | GEORGE MAWANDA-KALEMA | EPISCOPAL ’17
It’s rare for a guard to rack up the highest rebound total of the day, but that’s exactly what Kalema did. The Brown commit secured 11 rebounds and was very active, especially on the defensive glass.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | RICHARD AMAEFULE | BLUE RIDGE ’20
Richard Amaefule made a solid first impression with his play vs. Sanford. The 6’8 forward hit a 3, blocked 4 shots and showcased his two-way versatility & a high motor.
BEST INTANGIBLES | LINCOLN YUETTER | BULLIS ’18
Plenty of high IQ players were on display in the opening round, but none more intriguing than Lincoln Yuetter. The competitive lead guard stuffed the stat sheet for the Bulldogs in their opening round win. Yuetter consistently communicated and made others better.
BEST CATCH AND SHOOT GUY | DARIUS MCGHEE | BLUE RIDGE ’18
Darius McGhee shot the ball exceptionally well from the perimeter for the Barons. The athletic junior moves well off the ball and gets great elevation on his shot.
