Aamir Simms was fantastic on both ends of the floor. The Clemson commit stuffed the stat sheet and set the tone with his leadership and high motor. Simms was named Tournament MVP.
BEST PLAY | DARIUS MCGHEE | BLUE RIDGE ’18
Darius McGhee continued his hot streak, hitting three first quarter three’s, which helped his team build an early lead. They never looked back.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | DARIUS MCGHEE | BLUE RIDGE ’18
McGhee led Blue ridge with 18 points. He hit five three pointers. McGhee moves extremely well off the ball and doesn’t need much room to get his shot off.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | AAMIR SIMMS | BLUE RIDGE ’17
Simms fortified the back line of the Barons defense. He never gave up on any play. One significant play he made defensively came in the second half, when he raced back for an impressive chase down block.
BEST UNDER-THE-RADAR PERFORMANCE | JOSH COLON | BLUE RIDGE ’17
If you’re searching for a reliable point guard in the senior class, Josh Colon is more than worthy of a look. A flat out winner who loves to compete, Colon will end up making a college coach very happy someday.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | SADDIQ BEY | SIDWELL ’18
Saddiq Bey continues to show promise on both ends of the floor. An underrated defender, Bey is very alert and does a nice job staying active and using his length to create havoc.
BEST REBOUNDER | AAMIR SIMMS | BLUE RIDGE ’17
Simms snatched a game-high 9 rebounds. He did well to rebound in traffic and secure the ball tightly.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | JASON GIBSON | SIDWELL ’19
Jason Gibson has a chance to be a very good player. The high IQ lead guard is extremely crafty and is an exceptional perimeter jump shooter.
BEST INTANGIBLES | AAMIR SIMMS | BLUE RIDGE ’17
Love how Simms is consistently communicating to his teammates. The unselfish senior cares more about winning than any individual accolades.
BEST PASSER | JOSH COLON | BLUE RIDGE ’17
Colon dished out a game-high 5 dimes. The unsigned senior exhibits good vision and can deliver accurate passes from a variety of angles.
