Young weighing options
As his senior year approached, Trae Young planned to sign in April. However, word out of Young’s camp today is that he may announce his commitment earlier than expected and sign in the early signing period. Scout’s Evan Daniels was the first to report the news.
Young has narrowed his schools down to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kentucky, Kansas, Texas Tech and Washington. The only school Young did not visit was Washington. It is thought Kentucky, Oklahoma, Kansas and Oklahoma State are the schools with the best chance of landing Young.
Last season Young posted 35.4 points and 8.2 assists per game at Norman North. This year Young could very well average over 40 points per game in Class 6A. As many know, Young won the Nike Peach Jam with MOKAN Elite this summer. ESPN has Young listed as the #15 prospect in the nation.
For Oklahoma and Oklahoma State landing Young would do wonders for their programs. Young could be a hometown hero elevating an in-state program to new heights. For Kentucky and Kansas they could get another five star recruit to continue their excellence. Texas Tech is on the outside looking in, but the Red Raiders are in the picture with strong ties to the program. Trae’s father Rayford had a good career with the Red Raiders. Washington remains in the picture with Young’s ties to top recruit Micheal Porter. Young teamed up with Porter on MOKAN Elite making one of the best duo’s in the country.
Young took his final official visit to Oklahoma State last weekend during the Pokes homecoming weekend. In a recent interview with USA Today Young said his visits to Kentucky and Kansas were a perfect 10 out of 10.

Prep Hoops will continue to keep a close eye on the recruitment of Young as it continues to heat up. At this point Kentucky looks like the favorite to land Young, but don’t be surprised if he chooses to stay at home.
