The top big man prospect in South Dakota’s senior class Isaac Kortemeyer has signed to play for South Dakota School of Mines. Isaac had several options but wanted to stay close to home and is big into engineering and SD Mines is one of the best engineering schools around for undergrads. Mines is upgrading their program since going division and joining the RMAC.
Isaac’s teammate Jake Satter has not made a decision yet. As a 6-foot-5, or 6-foot-6 high percentage shooting wing he’s had several schools talk to him about next season. The list of schools interested/offering is growing, and what he’s doing is looking at the best schools for pre-med and successful basketball program regardless of division/level.
Jake has offers from schools that fit this bill in Illinois and Missouri, SD Mines, ACU, and has made visits to Biola University in California, and Colorado School of Mines. Dakota State has offered, and DWU is on him (they pretty much recruit everybody). D3 champ University of St. Thomas has spoken to Hollenbeck and has received some interest from Oregon Tech, Westmont (California), and Carroll College.
One of the biggest responses we’ve received from recent rankings is that Kaleb Walton Blandon of Rapid City Central should not only be on the list but near the to if it. Kaleb is said to be one of the most talented juniors statewide as few in the state can stay in front of him, and his jumpshot continues to develop. Blandon’s teammate and Rapid City Central coach’s son, TJ Hay is also very talented and one to watch. Blandon scored 18 and Hay 13 per game at last year’s AA tournament as sophomores.
At St. Thomas More junior Kale Landguth is an up and comer on a team full of talented seniors. Kale is a 6-foot-4 forward that could give STM a line-up at times of Isaac (6-8), Satter (6-5), Kale (6-4), Preston Arity (6-3), and Tate Maher (6-2). Only a few teams in the state have that level of size. Landgruth is an excellent leaper and has range to his touch. Kale may not start but he will be on the floor often.
