Teams: Anderson, Carmel, Fishers, Guerin Catholic, Hamilton Southeastern, Noblesville, Westfield
Last Season: Carmel won their 2nd straight sectional title last year in very highly competitive field. Carmel beat Fishers 67-49 in the final game and Carmel lost in the first round of regionals. Carmel had the best team of the group here but all of Fishers, HSE, Noblesville and Westfield could have taken the crown.
Contenders For 2016-17: I look for this result to be about the same this year. All of the teams lost a few key pieces but return enough talent every team should either improve or stay about the same. Carmel should have a great season this year as they bring back a solid core group of returning players. Anderson should step up this year as should Guerin Catholic. HSE is looking to have a big year on the back of a trio of really good bigs and Noblesville also will be senior laden and look to make a move.
Players to Watch: If Carmel wants to repeat in a sectional that is full of very good bigs, sophomore John-Micheal Mulloy will have to anchor them. After a successful freshman year he will have to anchor down the inside again this year to help Carmel out a bit and lead them to another sectional championship. Zach Gunn from HSE will also look to have a big year and with a good supporting cast could give HSE a path to regionals. Look for Gunn to impose his will on others this year.
