Teams: Castle, Evansville Central, Evansville Harrison, Evansville North, Evansville Reitz
Last Season: Last year this sectional was pretty competitive with all the teams having a winning record. Reitz took the crown after defeating Castle in the final, as well as twice in the regular season. Castle had a great season but came up just short finishing 19-6. Evansville Harrison finished 16-6 but just didn’t have the firepower to compete with the top two teams.
Contenders for 2016-17: I expect a shake-up for this sectional this year. Castle are the favorites to win this sectional just because they return everyone from their team last year and Reitz lost their top 3 scorers who combined for 40+ PPG. Evansville Harrison should be pretty good with transfer Rilee Epley coming in, but they too lost some key scorers. Both Evansville Central and Evansville North lost some good players and I suspect they both will fall a little. Right now I see three tiers with Castle sitting on top with Evansville Harrison followed by Evansville Reitz right behind.
Players to Watch: The Iowa commit from Castle, Jack Nunge, will be the guy who if stays healthy will lead Castle deep in the tournament. Rilee Epley will be a huge addition to Evansville Harrison and we should expect his scoring to come in and fit well with their game.
