REPUBLIC — This game went right down to the wire and the Rogersville Wildcats were able to pull out a 58-56 nail biter.
With the win, Rogersville improves to 2-0 after an earlier win over the Rolla Bulldogs, and they will advance to play Ozark, who also won their first-round contest on Tuesday.
Scouting report
Rogersville: Team has a nice blend of crafty guards, and young big men. Seniors Andrew Scott, Drew Ritter and Matt McHenry form a nice trio of guards and Luke Vandersnick, Ryker Strong and Jarrett Stiles are all 2019 forwards. They play hard, smart basketball and are poised for a nice season after finishing below .500 last year.
MVP: Matt McHenry, Rogersville. Really had a nice game and showed the ability to lead a team. Has a nice outside shooting touch and the ability to attack the paint. After the graduation of four-year starters Marcus Gorman and Christian Brown, McHenry, who is the younger brother of first-year head coach Mitch McHenry, is poised for a big season.

Best play of the night: Seth Stanley scoring all eight of the War Eagles’ points in the first quarter. One of the top 2018 players in Arkansas, Stanley combines size and length with a nice skill set.
Best guy off the bench: Jarrett Stiles, Rogersville. One of three sophomore big men in the rotation, Stiles is a hard nosed interior player that found his way to the free throw line several times.
Name you should know: Luke Vandersnick, Rogersville. The son of former US Olympian Lori Endicott, Vandersnick is a nice 4 man with the ability to step out and his mid-range shots.
