Jarvis was at Minnesota just last night to see the Gophers improve to 5-0 with a win over Arkansas. Before that Thomas visited Madison to see the basketball program and to attend the Ohio State/Wisconsin football game.
He also visited Oregon State and was offered in June, visited Arizona State in August (they a month earlier), visited Marquette and picked up an offer in October, and saw both Wisconsin and Minnesota recently.
Thomas was at Williams Arena last night so he has not spoken about it yet but he did really enjoy Wisconsin and Greg Gard. Being impressed by Gard was important as the right coach is what Jarvis is looking for.
“The coach will be important,” Jarvis said recently. “I have to be able to play with the coach. The style of basketball, the school has to fit me and have what I want to study.”
Wisconsin left a nice impression on Thomas.
“Madison was a great campus,” Jarvis said. “The fans definitely ball out. The practice was really good, well organized, thought out. I liked it.
“The game was awesome. There’s nothing like it. I don’t think I’ve been to another college football game like that. Literally every down on defense the fans were roaring.
“Greg Gard was one of the first people to recruit me two years ago when I was playing against the Iowa Barnstormers. I remember the game exactly. It was at a NY2LA tournament. After that he sent me some mail and has been steadily recruiting me.
“It’d be really huge if they offered me. It’d be one of the key points of my recruitment.”
Thomas is ready to push Orono High into a strong year as he’s a key member of the strong 2018 Spartan class. Jarvis played a big role with D1 Minnesota 16U executing the “junkyard dog” worker role.
“I’m a tough player. I can guard the one through five basically. People have called me a spark plug because when I play I just bring that energy to the court always in every situation.”
Jarvis has offers from Marquette, Arizona State, Iowa State, and Oregon State at the high major level.
