Prep Hoops Oklahoma Weekly Rankings November 28
The Prep Hoops Oklahoma weekly rankings are officially here with action on the hardwood heating up. This past week several teams saw the floor. Get a look at the rankings for Class 6A down to Class B below!
Class 6A
- Putnam City West 2-0
For some reason West has not received very much respect in the coaching poll this year as they entered the season at #5. After one week they moved up to #4 (with the most first place votes), but a lack of respect from some of the coaches has them outside the top three. This weekend West picked up two wins over tough Texas opponents.
2. Edmond North
3. Union
4. Midwest City
5. Booker T. Washington
6. Norman North 0-1
Norman North took an opening game loss in the Thanksgiving Turkey Fest in Dallas this past weekend. However, they were missing several players due to football. Look for the Timberwolves to surprise teams. They have the best player in the state, Trae Young running the show at the Point.
7. Putnam City North
8. Yukon
9. Broken Arrow
10. Edmond Santa Fe
Class 5A
- Carl Albert
- Tulsa Memorial 2-0
The Chargers are one of the few teams with games under their belt. So far so good. Tulsa Memorial saw big games from seniors Caleb Nero and Kobe Rose. Rose had quite the dunk against East Central.
3. Lawton Ike
4. El Reno
5. Edison
6. East Central 0-1
The East Central Cardinals hung with Tulsa Memorial for the first half of the game, but the Chargers pulled away in the second half. The Cardinals have their work cut out for them if they want to be a true contender for the Class 5A Gold Ball. Burke Putnam has what it takes to lead this team to the state tournament and go on a run.
7. Bishop McGuinness
8. Claremore
9. Coweta
10. Northwest Classen
Class 4A
- Fort Gibson
- Tulsa Central 0-1
Central lost to a tough Houston Jack Yates squad in Texas this past week. Elijah Landrum will carry this team as far as they go. Landrum is a special talent with the ability to take over a game at any moment.
3. Harrah
4. Ada
5. Heritage Hall 1-0
Les Thomas shot the ball lights out leading Heritage Hall to their first victory of the season over Cascia Hall. Thomas is an under the radar player in the 2017 Class.
6. Anadarko
7. Catoosa
8. Victory Christian
9. Kingfisher
10. Mount Saint Mary
Class 3A
- Douglass 1-0
The Trojans started out the year with a blowout of US Grant. After winning the Class 4A Championship last year, Douglass has now dropped in classification to 3A. They are the clear favorite of the class. Coryon Mason appears to be set for a huge season.

3. Oklahoma Centennial
4. Sequoyah Tahlequah
5. Riverside 5-1
Riverside has already faced six opponents on the season getting their year going with a flurry of games. The lone loss Riverside has is to Fort Cobb one of the best teams in the state regardless of class.

7. Jones
8. Lincoln Christian
9. Atoka
10. Star Spencer
Class 2A
- Wewoka
- Dale 3-0
Dale already has two top ten wins on the season. Lookout for them as they could be a team that could knock off Wewoka who has won the last two state championships.
3. Wright City 3-0
Wright City has started off the year strong with three straight wins!
4. Preston 2-2
Preston has dropped two of it’s four games early in the season. Don’t sound the alarm for panic just yet. Preston will be okay with Koby Goodman and company leading the way. The two losses are to Dale and Wright City, both were under ten points.
5. Talihina
6. Latta 1-1
Latta suffered a tough loss at the hands of Dale the #2 ranked team in Class 2A. Expect Latta to be in the conversation for the state tournament.
7. Millwood 0-1
Millwood took an early loss to Elk City in Class 4A. The Falcons could be a team that surprises some in Class 2A before the year is over. Coach Jeffries will have Millwood playing their best ball come March.
8. Northeast
9. Rattan 5-0
Rattan could once again be a state tournament team!
10. Merritt
Class A
- Fort Cobb-Broxton 5-0
Fort Cobb is a basketball palace that has won the last two state titles and could end up three-peating. The first of those two came in Class B. Look For Cameron and Kellen Hines along with Greyden Steinmetz to be one of the best trio’s the state has seen.
2. OKAY 1-0
OKAY is clearly the second best team in the class. The biggest question is can the Riggs brothers lead them past Fort Cobb?

A 5-0 start for New Lima has them securely in the top five in Class A.
