CNU commit Liam Harrrington and unsigned senior guard Mike Griffin combined for 35 points for the Hornets. Below is a closer look at some of the standouts from the contest.
MVP | ANTHONY PEARSON | OSBOURN ’17
PLAY OF THE GAME
About midway through the fourth quarter, Zach Powell hit a corner three for the Eagles. Liam Harrington answered back for Herndon, but Osbourn quickly pushed the ball in transition to Powell who drained another open look. Given the time and score, this shot along with Osbourn’s stingy defense and clutch foul shooting helped pull away and seal the victory.
BEST OFFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | ANTHONY PEARSON | OSBOURN ’17
Pearson (20 points) scored the ball well from multiple areas of the floor. He was very efficient from downtown, both off the bounce and from the catch, where he connected on three separate occasions. Pearson was also very good in the post where he showcased strong footwork.
BEST DEFENSIVE PERFORMANCE | DONOVAN BREEDING | OSBOURN ’18
Breeding gets the nod in this category for his defensive versatility and strong motor. The junior is a strong rebounder who can also defend on the perimeter.
BEST GUY OFF THE BENCH | DAVID MOSS | OSBOURN ’17
David Moss showed that he would do whatever it took to help his team secure a victory. Whether it meant diving for a loose ball or setting a good hard screen, the senior didn’t hesitate.
BEST UNDERCLASSMEN | DRAYKEAU HOGAN | OSBOURN ’19
Draykeau Hogan was excellent on both ends of the floor. The crafty sophomore guard is super quick and has a good feel for the game. Hogan scored six of his six of his seven points in the fourth quarter where he went 6/6 from the foul line.
BEST INTANGIBLES | DONOVAN BREEDING | OSBOURN ’18
Breeding is a very mature player who is considered a leader both by example and with his words. On more than a few occasions, he was heard urging his teammates to communicate defensively.
BEST REBOUNDER | ADAM KUCIK | HERNDON ’17
Adam Kucik helped Herndon gain several extra possessions with his workman-like production on the offensive glass. The 6’3 senior forward has quick reactions and is adept at tracking and securing the ball in traffic.
BEST CATCH AND SHOOT GUY | ZACH POWELL | OSBOURN ’17
Powell (pictured at the top) was deadly from beyond the arc, where he did his damage almost exclusively from the catch. He hit all three of his 3 point field goals in the second half.
BEST SHOES | ANTHONY PEARSON | HARE JORDAN 1
Pearson broke out the original Hare Jordan 1’s last night. These exclusive shoes retro’ed in 2009 after their initial release in ’91.
