Jake Whitehead has been patiently waiting his turn for a chance to shine at the varsity level. He was the only underclassman that played significant time last year for 5A powerhouse American Fork High School. With 8 seniors graduated, Jake believes he can keep his team among the very best in 5A. When asked about his team this year, he stated “our team will be very young, but we have a lot of talented underclassmen. If we can mesh as a team we could be a dangerous team in 5A.”
Jake also believes he has taken his game to another level after a great summer playing with the Utah Basketball Club. Jake commented on his skills by saying, “I’m a very solid shooter who can score from the three point line and the mid-range. I also have been able to get to the basket and finish over defenders.” Jake is a 6’5 guard with a tall frame that allows him to get past defenders and into the paint. He also stated his weaknesses, “I need to be a better rebounder this year, especially because I’m a senior leader. I also would like to continue to improve my ball handling so I can be more efficient at driving to the hoop.”
Jake has received interest from several colleges, including Glenville State, Northeastern Junior College, MCcook Community College, and Everett Community College.
