Ontario Chapman (6’3, PF, Community of Peace). Ontario’s coach said that he has the best motor in the entire state of Minnesota. The kid said he believes he’s the state’s best rebounder. The numbers say he averaged 15 points and 14.6 rebounds as a junior. Something to watch.
Hunter Chaput (6’3, SF, Win-E-Mac). Another 20 plus per game guy from northern Minnesota who hits from inside and out as he’s able to use his skill to slash through the opposition. Teams key on him every game and he still gets his 20.
James Clark (6’2, PG, Sebeka). High speed guy who pushes the pace in a big way. Opponents can’t keep him in front. James put up 14 points, six boards, four assists, and four steals a game last year as a junior. Excellent ball handler.
Zayne Engel (6’7, C, TML-GHEC). Engel (pictured to the right) was the Fairmont paper area player of the year as a junior when he put up 22.6 points, 10.6 rebounds, and two blocks a game. Zayne dominated many games in the paint leading his team to 15 wins.
Nick Fischer (6’5, PF, MN Valley Lutheran). One of the stronger players in the class which is why he averaged 15 points and just under ten rebounds a game as a junior. Nick also blocked two shots a contest for a 22-6 team.
Del Guerrero (6’3, SF, Kimball Area). 15 points, 7 boards, 4 assists, and 2 steals as a first team all CMC performer last year. Does just about everything for his team and is highly respected by his opponents which is how we learned of him.
Ryan Kloos (6’4, PF, USC). Kloos is a guy that can hit from the arc but score around the basket with great footwork. Scored 22 points a game last season and could push to the 27-28 a game area for the Rebels this season.
Lucas Nelson (6’2, SG, Legacy Christian). Scored 17 points a game last year mostly because of his touch behind the arc. Everybody in the MCAA knows they need to get a hand up on Nelson. Also a good defender.
Chris McGlynn (6’1, SG, Stephen-Argyle). Chris scored 21 points a contest as a junior with a shooting touch out to the arc and the ability to simply slash through northern Minnesota basketball consistently to complete plays. All league player a year ago.
Kyler Newman (5’11, SG, Hillcrest Lutheran). The best returning player from last year’s 26-1 team, the team that was last to lose their first game in Class A last year. Newman scored 17 a contest last season and his coach tells us that he can take a game over on either end.
Grant Otte (5’11, G, Randolph). Grant will be a three time all league player and a three time scoring leader for his team that has been just over .500. Otte scored 18 a game last year as he’s a high percentage three point guy but also is a high IQ player.
Carson Passer (6’0, SG, McGregor). His name is great first off. Second, this 4.0 grade point average kid is also an intelligent high IQ hooper that scored 15 a game with four assists last year for the 18 win Mercuries. High level work ethic.
Cole Schwichtenberg (6’1, PG, Lanesborro). A three time starting PG who leads his team in scoring, rebounding, assist, pretty much everything. All league player that put up 17.6 points, eight boards, and four assists a game shooting a very high percentage from the foul line.
Eric Van Erp (6’2, SG, Battle Lake). This is more of a “don’t forget about him” add than anything else. Eric prides himself on his ability to defend five positions as well has the ability to score on the move, or hit at the arc. Scored 21 points a game as a junior and should have a monster senior year for a strong Class A team.
