The Basketball Interview…with Kade Hart
Faribault’s Kade Hart pulls no punches in today’s Basketball Interview talking basketball in Faribault as well as describing his hoops interests.
At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
“I really enjoy our warm up pants. We have some retro green, black and white vertically striped rip off pants. Kind of been a tradition at Faribault.”
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you will always remember?
“We haven’t always had the best crowd due to a rebuilding program, but this year will be much better. One year we had a retro night, where we wore old 70s uniforms and to a song, all the players ran to the crowd and ripped off our warm up pants revealing our short shorts. The crowd went crazy.”
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in Minnesota basketball and why?
“Toughest player: Kri’sean Coffee of Mankato East. Wasn’t the tallest dude but was always pushing and tugging and playing more physical than necessary.”
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
“Owatonna. Owatonna and Faribault dates back to when the big 9 conference was created in 1945 and due to the 15 mile separation of the towns, it’s always been bitter. Recently Owatonna has dominated almost all sports in the past century, but we beat Owatonna twice in basketball last year and beat them in football this year, and will have a good chance to beat them again in basketball this year.”
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
“I do not have favorite player nor a favorite team. I watch college basketball and hardly ever watch the NBA.”
All basketball players love gear. What brand of gear or type of gear are you partial to?
“I’m all Nike and or Under Armour. I will where whatever of those two brands whether it’s shoes, shorts, socks, or anything.”
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
“In the BigFoot hoops Classic in Vegas we played on a Jordan court that had a black floor and silver rims. Although we lost, it was a great experience.”
What team that isn’t on your schedule in Minnesota would you most like to play and why?
“Bethlehem Academy. They are a Lutheran private school also in the town of Faribault and some of the players like to talk crap and say they could beat us. When in reality it wouldn’t be close.”
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who was it from?
“Don’t try to meet everyone else’s expectations. Play your game” -Eric Hildebrandt (Faribault assistant coach and my 7th and 8th grade traveling coach).
Who is your basketball influence?
“My best friend TJ. He got me started in 5th grade and I fell in love with the sport. He’s helped me get to where I am today and I couldn’t have excelled to where I am without him.”
