At your school, what is your favorite part or parts about game days in terms of the routine leading up to the game?
“That way you have something to look forward too and be excited about. Seems like the days go by faster.”
What makes your crowd unique? What is a memorable thing that they’ve done that you will always remember?
“Personally, I think we have one of the best crowds in the state. The game could be in town, or two hours away and our crowd won’t disappoint and always cheer their hearts out. They play a big role in getting us pumped up.”
Who is the toughest player you can recall playing against in South Dakota basketball and why?
“Majok Kur would be up there, knowing it is basically impossible to guard him man considering it is very hard to block his shot with his height.”
Who is your biggest rival and what about them makes the rivalry both heated and memorable?
“It’s a toss up between JVC and Sanborn Central Woonsocket. Always the biggest games in the 281 and always a packed house between those two. Both very talented teams, and looking forward to facing up against them this year.”
Who is your favorite basketball player in the world and why?
“The player I look up to the most is Ray Allen. He had one of the best 30 point shots in the history of NBA and I don’t think anybody knows all the dedication he put into the game.”
What brand of gear or type of gear are you partial to?
“Air Jordan.”
What is your favorite venue to play basketball in that you’ve played in?
“Barnett Center, hopefully I can play there once again considering the atmosphere and for the State Tournament.
Explain the relationship varsity players have at your school with youth players?
“Well we have always been about seniority and leading, the youth know what to expect from the older guys, and that is dedication and love for the game. They feel comfortable following us and know we always have their back.”
Best coaching advice you’ve received is what and who was it from?
“It always seems impossible until it’s done. -Coach Hooks”
