Aaron Thompson Prepared to Lead
Aaron Thompson is a proven winner. The only remaining player from PVI’s treble four years ago, Thompson has also proven himself among the top players in the country on the EYBL with Team Takevoer. This year, Thompson understands the value he brings as the most experienced player on the team and is doing an excellent job leading both with his words and his actions.
Brandon Slater Expected to Step Up
With the departure of McDonalds All-American VJ King to Louisville, the Panthers will look to Brandon Slater to help pick up the slack. Slater, who is also being targeted by Louisville among other high major programs, is getting stronger as he continues to grow into his body. A high level athlete and lockdown defender with a relentless motor, Slater’s ability to consistently contribute in a variety of ways could be an key factor to the team’s success this year.
Miles Latimer Most Improved
One of the better shooters you will find in the state, Miles Latimer has definitely proved that he can do more than just light teams up from the perimeter. At 6-foot-3, Latimer is a sneaky athlete who is very crafty around the basket. Expect some big games from the junior this season.
Additional Notes
Anthony Harris is another player we expect to make a big jump this year. Harris had an excellent summer. He continues to work hard and has a chance to be one of the team’s most productive players.
Jeremy Roach continues to live up to the hype. The dynamic young freshman is a big time athlete with good size who looks prepared to contribute immediately.
Jeremy Robinson is another big time athlete who should play a major role for the Panthers this year. The native of North Carolina has impressed with his ability to consistently hit perimeter jumpers.
Another most improved candidate for this team has to be James Dunlop. The 7 footer has worked hard on his conditioning, makes strong rim runs, and has a nice arsenal of moves he utilizes on the low block.
Remember the name Josiah Freeman. The freshman was a standout on the summer circuit with Team Takeover, and has a chance to be a very good player as he continues to work and get stronger.
After putting together a strong body of work with The District on the AAU circuit, Devon Sims is another improved player who is expected to make a jump this year. Sims is a strong competitor with good size and defensive potential.
