Teams: Oak Hill, Southwood, Lewis Cass, Manchester, Northfield, Rochester, Wabash
Last Year: Oak Hill was the best team in this Sectional last season and one of the best in all of 2A. However, this Sectional didn’t make it easy as they had five of the seven teams with better than .500 records. Southwood joined Oak Hill as the two teams in Sectional 37 with over 20 wins. Lewis Cass, Manchester, and Northfield were also very good in 2015-16. Oak Hill, however, escaped the regular season and Sectional without a loss to any of those teams. They got through to the Regional finals before losing to eventual State Champion in Lapel.
Contenders For 2016-17: This coming season isn’t going to be any easier with six-win Rochester look like a team that is going to move forward and Oak Hill returning a coupld of the big hitters in Caleb Middlesworth, Spencer, Ballinger, and David Arens, Middlesworth looks very improved and could be a nightmare to defend. Southwood will be the most intriguing team to watch as they lose some size and scoring in Alex Harmon but Carson Blair and Peyton Trexler return in the backcourt. Manchester should struggle after losing Chase Fierstos. Northfield returns their double-double guy in Cody Holmes. Lewis Cass should also be fine even after losing Ryan Bixler. They still have Evan Ohman and Kace Kitchel would will be a nice 1-2 punch.
Players To Watch: This is a very talented Sectional from top to bottom and presents a ton of different options for this spot including Kace Kitchel, Cody Holmes, and Peyton Trexler however the one guy who is about to break out on a Regional level is Oak Hill’s Caleb Middlesworth. The 6’8 forward has been showing an increasing level of skill in the last year and he’s right there on the verge of being a state-wide name and a DI prospect in the Midwest. This could be his coming out party this winter and if he does, expect a lot of success for Oak Hill.
