Prospect Spotlight: Jaago Kalakon (2019)
One of Kentucky’s brightest young prospects, Louisville Waggener’s 6-foot-2 shooting guard Jaago Kalakon recently spoke with PHKY about his burgeoning basketball life.
The talented sophomore mentioned energy time and again during our 6-minute conversation, and it’s clear he predicates his game on just that.
“I bring energy to the floor in the form of defense and rebounding. I excel at shooting and I’m working on my ball-handling,” said Kalakon, who says he spent his summer playing with Louisville Magic.
“I think I did a good job at pushing the floor, attacking, defense, coming off ball-screens, and I think it went well.”
After starting some games last season a freshman, Kalakon — who projects himself as a shooting guard in college — is ready to take a large step forward this season with the Wildcats.
“My role last year was to bring energy, defense and rebound. This season they’ll be expecting me to rebound more and score the ball, and to embrace my role and bring energy,” said Kalakon, who laid out a personal goal of his.
“I’m just focused on being consistent with scoring. I don’t want to go for 15 points one game, and then four, and then 15. I just want to be consistent with all of my numbers.”
