Perhaps the best player in the state, regardless of class, Wieskamp will break the school’s scoring record early this year, and then have more than a year-and-a-half to add to it. He’s become a good defender and is one of the scariest offensive players around with his ability to score from anywhere efficiently.
First Team
2018 Joe Wieskamp, Muscatine (21.6 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 2.6 blocks. 53.1 FG%, 71.9 FT%)
The scary thing about Wieskamp is that his 3-point percentage actually dropped 8.3% from his freshman to sophomore years. If he bounces that back up towards 40% (from 31.7%), his numbers could become even crazier.
2017 Ray Miller, Davenport Central (15.5 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.5 steals, 1.2 blocks, 49.6 FG%)
Perhaps the best athlete in the state, Miller’s all-around game has really blossomed over the last year. He’s impossible to keep out of the paint, makes a major impact on both ends and is a highlight waiting to happen.
2017 Bailey Basala, North Scott (17.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 41.4 FG%)
A sharpshooting wing, Basala’s recruitment exploded over the summer, picking up a number of low-major Division I offers. He can score from anywhere, and when he gets going from the arc, he’s nearly impossible to stop.
2018 Corvon Seales, North Scott (12.2 points, 1.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 44.3 FG%, 39.3 3P%)
Few players in the state match Seales’ combination of size, length and quickness. He’s become a very good perimeter defender and his offensive skill set has come a long way. Look for him to have a huge junior year.
2018 V.J. Wilmington, Davenport North (13.5 points, 2.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists)
A strong, physical lead guard, Wilmington is looking to become more efficient as a junior – he shot just 38.2% from the floor last year. Coming off a very strong summer, look for that to improve as he turns himself into one of the more difficult players to guard in the MAC.

2017 Trenton Wallace, Davenport Assumption
2018 Trent Fitzpatrick, Davenport Assumption
