As one of the top class of 2016 players heading to a high Division II program for the next year, Rudy Bibb Boyd is poised to make it clear that he went where he can be successful, and he will be.
A very solid scoring point guard, Bibb Boyd is about as crafty as it gets on the perimeter, and he can really shoot it from deep, and that will be something that can translate to the level that he is going to. He has a nice handle that can help him get to the rim, and a very quick release on his jumper, which will help him to get his shot of over defenders.
“He’s doing well so far,” Lincoln Memorial Assistant Jeremiah Samarrippas told Prep Hoops Florida via text on Thursday afternoon. “He’s really continued to get better over his first two months here, each week he’s gradually gotten better. He has a chance to be one of the first guards off the bench for us.”
He will get a chance to learn from veterans like Christopher Perry (Bartow) and Luquon Choice, who will both be counted on for major minutes this year for the Railsplitters.
Bibb Boyd should get some minutes as the season progresses, and will continue to learn from mistakes, as every freshman has, he will be a big part of LMU’s future however at the PG position.
“He’s definitely a confident player with the ball in his hands,” Samarrippas said. “As his jumper continues to improve, he’ll have the total package at our level in the PG spot.”
Coming off a very successful high school career at Gainesville, Bibb Boyd is poised to take that step for a team that will be a perennial powerhouse in the High Division 2, top 25 ranks, setting himself up extremely well for the future, as well as possibly playing overseas professionally.
