This Tuesday Prep Hoops highlights five players in Oklahoma that are not receiving the looks they might deserve.
Caleb Nero 2017 Tulsa Memorial Point Guard
Nero holds a couple of Division I offers, but at this point his recruitment is wide open. Over his career at Tulsa Memorial he has shown his abilities to run the show at Point Guard. Nero is a good scoring option with the rock in his hands as a high volume shooter with the skills to light up defenses in all three phases of the game. Nero will attract more Division I looks as the year continues.
Omar Boone 2017 Casady Point Guard
Boone is an undersized Point Guard with a high motor and a great skill set. He has received some Division I looks, but is starting to hear from JUCO’s and Division II schools. Boone could be the ideal Division II or JUCO Point Guard with great upside. The best way to describe Boone at the Point is a gamer. Boone does a great job of mixing up scoring the basketball and seeking out open teammates.
Tony Hall 2017 Broken Arrow Shooting Guard
Hall is a long 6’5 Wing with athleticism, shooting skills and toughness. Division II and JUCO schools will fall in love with the size Hall has once they see him play. Unlike many other taller players in Oklahoma, Hall has been able to develop his skills on the Wing. He is a good rebounder from the 2 or 3 spot.
Kristoff Hayden 2017 Edmond Santa Fe Point Guard
Hayden does not receive a bunch of love, but has established himself as one of the best senior guards in Oklahoma. Division I college looks probably won’t come Hayden’s way this year. However, Hayden could be guard who could go to a JUCO and raise his college level over the two years. Hayden is best with the ball in his hands, which allows him to make plays.
Callen Haydon 2017 El Reno Point Guard
Honestly after the summer Haydon had with Primetime and El Reno I am really surprised more Division II schools are not seeking his talents. Haydon is a big time scorer that plays with a chip on his shoulders. He has the fight and intensity to be a great leader on the floor from the Point Guard spot. Look for more Division II and JUCO programs to come hard after Haydon. He is set to have a great final year at El Reno.
