The group that we have coming in this weekend is a solid subset of the class. Banks, Barnes, and Watts are really, really good and the lead a group that should shine this weekend.
Simon Banks – 6’2 – Brebeuf Jesuit (IN)
Banks is still in football season but I’m interested to see how he looks in spite of that. He really showed a good mid and long range games last year and a little this summer. Banks is going to be one of the better two-sport athletes in this class.
Cobie Barnes – 6’5 – Floyd Central (IN)
Barnes is full of upside but still plays pretty well right now. The southern Indiana prospect is one of the top players in the class and will be a top wing prospect. Has the size but also the handles and skill to stay on the wing. Likes to drive from the arc to score.
Ethan Brittain-Watts – 6’1 – Culver Acadmies (IN)
In a class full with the kind of talent 2019 is, the biggest depth might be at the point guard spot. However, Brittain-Watts might have the most upside of any player in that group. He’s tall and long and really understands the flow of the game and spacing better than most his age. That should show on Saturday.
Matt Dove – 6’8 – Princeton (IN)
Matt was one of the out-of-nowhere guys we saw this summer. Didn’t play AAU last year and played JV most of his freshman season but this summer, there was no denying that he was a guy to watch. A long 6’8 that can face-up and defend the post. One of my favorites from this summer.
Brennan Neal – 6’3 – Whiteland (IN)
Neal is an under-the-radar wing that can score the ball in a multitude of ways. Really good off the dribble and a capable long range shooter. I expect him to be a bigger name this winter for Whiteland but before that he’s going to be a guy to watch this Saturday.
Hayden Smithey – 6’5 – Bishop Dwenger (IN)
Smithey took huge steps in year one of high school. He knocked the forward projection I though he might be headed towards and became a much better ball handler and scorer on the wing. He’ll be a 2/3 and likely a big part of Dwenger’s upcoming season.
